OBDI PCM Tuning

For as little as $50 shipped you can get your basic PCM settings changed, such as adjusting for new gears, tires or thermostats! Or receive a Power Tune via email for just $50!

Inexpensive & Efficient Tuning

If you don't have the time, desire or money to tune your own vehicle's PCM, but would still like some changes made to it, I offer a very inexpensive tuning service for the '94 and '95 OBDI LT1 PCMs.

This includes the Camaro, Firebird Formula and Trans Am, the Corvette, Impala SS, the deVille, the Caprice and Roadmaster (even the 4.3L L99 engine)!

To verify I can tune your particular PCM, it must be one of the two serial numbers: 16188051 or 16181333.

Basic Tune

$50 Shipped

Basic Tuning is for those who only need non-power items changed, which are quick fixes, like rear gear ratio and/or tire size, removal of VATS/AIR Pump/EGR/skip-shift, or changing to speed density.

This option is also good for those who are doing an engine swap, putting the LT1 into another car, and don't desire any extra power gains over stock.

See below for more items that can be changed.

Power Tune

$75 Shipped / $50 Emailed

Power Tuning includes any changes available in Basic, as well as changes for increasing torque and horsepower.

This is done by modifying the spark timing and fuel tables, especially at WOT (wide open throttle).

Power Tuning also includes automatic shifting changes, such as firmness, shift points, and TCC lockup points.

Those who have installed new cams, heads or done other engine modifications, such as overbore/stroke, will also see improvements in drivability and likely MPG.

If you have your own programming software, but want a base tune to build upon, then the Power Tune is only $50, with the tune sent via email. This will be especially for those with major/internal engine mods, such as cam, heads, forced induction, etc.

Post-Purchase Service

Turn-Around Time

Once you place an order, and I receive your PCM (or email image) and payment, I will begin work right away. In most cases, I will be able to have your tune ready by the next business day, either for shipment back to you or emailed.

But, barring any emergencies, I will take no longer than two business days after receiving PCM and payment.

I also offer expedited return-shipping if you are in a hurry!

Free Retunes

Tuning not done in person will never match in-person tuning, whether done in the car or on a dyno. For this reason, I offer free retunes for those who have ordered from me in order to get it "right" for you.

For those ordering via postal mail, I offer one free retune if you pay for shipping both ways.

For those ordering via email, I offer up to three free retunes, optionally (and ideally) using your own FreeScan or DataMaster logs to fine-tune the PCM.

Tuneable Items

Below is a partial list of the various systems and their checks that I can enable/disable for you. Many of these are not needed when you swap the LT1 engine and PCM into other vehicles, like hot rods or foreign cars.

  • VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft Sensor)
  • CAGS/CARS (Skip-shift for M6 transmissions)
  • AIR Pump
  • EGR
  • CCP (carbon canister purge)
  • VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)
  • A/C (for removal of air conditioning system)
  • MAF Sensor/Speed Density - causes the car to run off the VE tables, using MAP and IAT sensors
  • O2 Sensors - causes car to run in "open loop," which requires careful tuning since no fueling correction is done
  • And much, much more - contact me with any questions!

Did you recently do some of the mods below? They can easily be accomodated for the basic tune price of $50 shipped:

  • Fan Settings - added a 160° thermostat? Now make your fans come on sooner to help cool your engine better!
  • Rear Gears or Wheels/Tires - so your speedometer and automatic shifting work correctly again!
  • Fuel Injectors - so your car doesn't run lean or rich any more
  • Ported, F-Body, ZO6 MAF Sensor - did you port and/or descreen your MAF sensor? Switch from B-Body MAF to F-Body? It changed how your engine runs and the PCM needs updated to restore your full drivability, MPG and power. The ZO6 is a cheaper replacement for broken LT1 MAFs, and is larger for more airflow. I can change the flow values in the PCM to accomodate either!

Software Simulation

For Power Tunes, I use Desktop Dyno to accurately model your engine setup, allowing me to see where your engine's torque and power peaks are, and how much valve overlap there is, for adjusting timing.

For those of you who have modified/upgraded your heads, camshaft, stroke/bore, compression, etc., this will allow the power tune to more accurately match your setup!

And still for only $75 shipped or just $50 via email!

Customer Signup

To request a PCM to be tuned, I ask that you first sign up as a customer. This allows me to keep each person's name and mailing information separate from their PCM info, in case they ever send another PCM or have the same one retuned in the future.

Once signed up, you will be issued a customer number, which, along with your chosen password, you can then use for the PCM tune order form. This way each order is able to be tracked much more efficiently, saving both you and me time. Thanks in advance for your cooperation!

If you've ordered from me in the past, off my old website (members.nuvox.net/~on.roz/cars), then please contact me for your customer # instead of signing up again.

DIY Tuning

If you decide you like the idea of tuning on your own, visit TunerCat and purchase the C.A.T.S. Tuner software to get started ($69.95). For working on your '94 or '95 LT1 PCM, you'll need the $EE definition file as well ($19.95), or $DA3 for the '93 F-Body.

Then just get yourself an OBDI cable and computer, and you're ready!
